How does the Radio Frequency Identification Automated Portal Work?

As the employee steps into the gated portal, the system validates the employee’s credentials by reading their identification card. Once verified, the employee is granted authorization. The system will audibly announce and display the employee name on the flat screen monitor. The electro-magnetic lock on the door then disengages, permitting the employee to advance into the secured facility to locate and obtain the required items from stock.

As the employee passes through the portal, the streaming video surveillance system captures and archives a still image of the employee to establish time stamped visual documentation.(Image of camera) Once the employee has acquired the necessary items, he or she exits the portal with the items. As the employee walks through the portal, the Radio Frequency Identification readers identify the Radio Frequency Identification tags that have been applied or packaged with each individual item. The system then proceeds to update the necessary inventory and employee records. The items are issued to the employee and adjustments are made to the inventory count to reflect transactions.
